Playful experimentation is central to Ruth's creative process, making one-of-a-kind pieces in paint, mixed media and textiles.

“Predominantly large in format and abstract in mode, the artist is interested in spatial relationships when it comes to the forms that she works with, ones that are often achieved using contrast - butting up flat geometric shapes against more painterly apllications of paint on canvas, allowing the brushwork to show.

These are landscapes with a difference and are all the better for that; an exploration of space, structure and texture where the subtle hint of a grid helps keep the composition alive and dynamic"
